Le Gold Strike est une liqueur aromatisée à la cannelle produite par Bols.
Il s'agit d'une boisson plutôt forte, sa teneur en alcool étant de 50 % vol. Le liquide, de teinte jaune, est sirupeux. Des paillettes d'or de 23,5 carats y sont en suspension et constituent un des particularités du produit ; une autre en est le mode de consommation :
- le Gold Strike se boit à l'aide d'un verre à shooter (shot glass en anglais) accompagné d’un petit couvercle ;
- il faut taper le verre sur le comptoir ou la table à plusieurs reprises, puis l'ingurgiter d'un seul coup (« cul sec ») ;
- après avoir avalé, il faut aspirer par la bouche les vapeurs encore présentes dans le verre....
On peut également, après l'avoir secoué et servi, le flamber (le faire brûler pour en diminuer le degré d'alcool) 5 secondes, le porter à la bouche puis souffler et avaler cul sec. L'arôme explose alors dans tout le palais.
