Edmund Blair Leighton (21 septembre 1853 à Londres - 1er septembre 1922 à Londres) est un peintre britannique du mouvement préraphaélite. Beaucoup de ses œuvres touchent le Moyen Âge. Parmi ses peintures les plus connues, on retrouve "The Accolade" (L'adoubement) et "God Speed" (Dieu te protège).

Biographie

Fils de l'artiste Charles Blair Leighton, qui mourut alors que ce dernier n'avait que 2 ans, Edmund Blair Leighton est né le 21 septembre 1853. Après avoir fait des études universitaires, il devient étudiant à la Royal Academy, où il exposera ses tableaux de 1878 à 1880. Il recevra d'ailleurs une récompense pour ses œuvres "Witness My Act and Seal" et "A Flaw in the Title". Par la suite ses tableaux seront souvent exposés à la Burlington House. Il habitait à Londres, et décéda à l'âge de 68 ans.
