Sir Frederick Gowland Hopkins (20 juin 1861 à Eastbourne, Sussex, Angleterre - 16 mai 1947 à Cambridge, Angleterre) est un physiologiste et chimiste britannique. Il est lauréat de la moitié du prix Nobel de physiologie ou médecine de 1929[1].

Biographie

Il découvre l'acide aminé tryptophane en 1901.

Il découvre les vitamines en 1906.

Il est lauréat de la Royal Medal en 1919.

En 1929, il est lauréat de la moitié du prix Nobel de physiologie ou médecine (l'autre moitié a été remise à Christiaan Eijkman) « pour sa découverte des vitamines de croissance[1] ».
