Notes

  • La victoire de Jacques Villeneuve est d'autant plus remarquable qu'il s'impose malgré une pénalité de 2 tours infligée en début de course suite au dépassement du pace-car.
  • Le premier coup de théâtre avait eu lieu dès les essais, avec la non-qualification de deux des grands favoris de la course: les pilotes Penske Al Unser Jr. et Emerson Fittipaldi, respectivement victorieux de l'épreuve en 1994 et 1993, et victimes d'un "loup" aérodynamique sur le Brickyard.
