Une des plaques des bronzes du Benin
Les bronzes du Benin sont une collection de plus d'un millier de plaques de laiton originaire du Palais Royal du Royaume du Benin, dans l'actuel Nigeria. Les plaques ont été saisis par des soldats britanniques dans l'expédition punitive au Bénin en 1897 dirigée par Harry Rawson. Elles furent remises au Foreign and Commonwealth Office et environ 200 d'entre-elles ont été ensuite transmises au British Museum à Londres, tandis que le reste ont été répartis dans plusieurs collections, comme au Victoria and Albert Museum.
