Jean-Philippe Rykiel est un compositeur français, arrangeur et musicien, initialement pianiste. Il est né aveugle en 1961, et fils de la couturière de mode Sonia Rykiel.

Carrière
Rykiel commence sa carrière grâce à ses duos aux synthétiseurs avec Tim Blake au cours de la Crystal Machine, projet audio-visuel né dans à la fin des années 70, et basés sur des shows mêlant musique et jeux de lumière et laser, en France et au Japon[1].
Pus tard, il passa beaucoup de temps en collaborant avec divers musiciens, notamment le chanteur malien Salif Keïta[2], le moine tibétain Lama Gyourmé ainsi que le chanteur et percussionniste sénégalais Youssou N'Dour.
En 1992, il compose et dirige la musique du film Les Pierres bleues du désert, dir:Nabil Ayouch
Rykiel et Blake se réunissent pour la Crystal Machine au Gong Unconvention Festival d'Amsterdam en 2006.
