Blue Dog Coalition
La Blue Dog Coalition (Coalition des chiens bleus) est un mouvement politique américain regroupant les démocrates conservateurs.
Cette coalition, qui comprend également d'anciens républicains, prend des positions plus à droite que certains républicains libéraux. Socialement et économiquement conservateurs, les Blue Dogs sont contre le mariage homosexuel, pour la liberté de port d'armes, pour des limitations au droit à l'avortement et pour restreindre l'immigration mexicaine. Ils tendent économiquement à soutenir des positions protectionnistes.
La coalition fut fondée en 1994 et comprend 37 membres du Congrès en 2006. Ceux-ci occupent souvent une position charnière entre les républicains et les démocrates.
Lors des élections de mi-mandat en 2006, elle apporta son soutien à 33 candidats démocrates à la Chambre des représentants (dont 16 bien placés pour l'emporter) et au Sénat dont Harold Ford dans le Tennessee et Bob Casey Jr en Pennsylvanie.
Les Blue dogs sont plus conservateurs que les membres du Democratic Leadership Council (des Nouveaux démocrates, centristes économiquement libéraux)
