Big Fish est un film fantastique américain réalisé par Tim Burton et écrit par John August, sorti en 2003. Librement inspiré du roman de Daniel Wallace, Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions, ce film a pour vedettes Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lange, Alison Lohman, Steve Buscemi, Helena Bonham Carter, Marion Cotillard et Danny DeVito, parmi d'autres.

Will Bloom a toujours été bercé par les récits de son père, Edward Bloom, talentueux conteur d'histoire à l'imagination débordante... au point que son fils finisse par lui reprocher de trop enchevêtrer réalité et fantasie, à propos de quoi éclate une dispute. Désormais adulte et marié, Will Bloom revient pourtant voir son père lorsqu'il apprend sa mort imminente. C'est l'occasion pour lui de partir en quête de vérité, de lever le voile sur la vie de son père ; c'est l'occasion pour lui d'enfin comprendre l'incompréhensible, non sans un brin de poésie, de sa relation filiale.

Le film était initialement prévu pour être réalisé par Steven Spielberg. À la suite de la mort de son propre père, c'est Tim Burton qui reprend le projet. Le film a principalement été tourné en Alabama, et prend un caractère beaucoup moins gothique que les films précédents de Burton, tels qu'Edward aux mains d'argent ou Sleepy Hollow. De nombreuses critiques ont salué le film comme le chef-d'œuvre du réalisateur, il a d'ailleurs reçu 4 nominations aux Golden Globe ainsi qu'une nomination aux Oscars pour la bande originale composée par Danny Elfman.
