La phényléphrine est une substance chimique de la famille des phénéthylamines qui possède des propriétés anticoagulantes, antithrombotiques, sympathomimétiques, alpha-stimulantes, vasoconstrictrices et mydriatiques. Elle peut être utilisée pour lutter contre l'hypotension, mais elle est surtout utilisée comme décongestionnant dans des pathologies telles quel le rhume, la rhynopharingite. Son sel chlorhydrate est utilisé dans nombre de médicaments sans ordonnance. Ils sont utilisés seuls ou en association avec un antihistaminique et un antiseptique.
