100 kilomètres

Le 100 kilomètres est une épreuve classique de course à pied de grand fond. Régulée par l'International Association of Ultra Runners, elle peut se disputer sur route ou sur piste[1]. Les spécialistes de cette épreuve d'ultrafond sont appelés familièrement « centbornards »[2].

L'International Association of Athletics Federations a mis un certain temps avant d'accepter ce type d'épreuves.[réf. nécessaire]

La France est le pays organisant le plus de 100 km, avec 14 en 2003 pour un total de 30 dans le monde ; leur faible nombre dans les pays anglo-saxons amateurs d'ultra-fond est lié à l'utilisation du système impérial d'unités[3]
