Citrix Systems
Citrix Systems (NASDAQ : CTXS) est une société de haute technologie américaine basée à Fort Lauderdale, Floride, avec des filiales importantes au Royaume-Uni et en Australie.
Citrix était initialement uniquement éditeur de logiciels mais elle a acquis Net6 fin 2004 et propose désormais des solutions matérielles.
Citrix propose une suite de produits proposant une architecture de fédération des applications, même hétérogènes. Dans une architecture Citrix, les différentes applications de l'entreprise fonctionnent toutes sur un serveur centralisé. Les utilisateurs accèdent à leurs applications sur le serveur via un client Citrix.
Citrix Systems, Inc. a annoncé[1] le 15 août 2007 l'acquisition de XenSource, Inc pour un montant d'environ $ 500 millions. Citrix entre ainsi dans le marché prometteur de la virtualisation sur les serveurs et les stations de travail.
Les produits actuels sont :
- Citrix XenApp (anciennement Citrix Presentation Server et Citrix MetaFrame)
- Citrix Access Gateway (offre matérielle basée sur les produits Net6)
- Citrix Advanced Access Control (anciennement MetaFrame Secure Access Manager, NFuse Elite)
- GoToAssist, GoToMeeting et GoToMyPC

Citrix a été fondé en 1989 par Ed Iacobucci dans le Delaware. Mark Templeton est l'actuel (2005) président.
Citrix est partenaire de Microsoft et développe des produits compatibles avec l'Active Directory des domaines sous Microsoft Windows.

Historique
Le premier produit de Citrix(r) a été **Citrix MULTIUSER** (il est possible de consulter un test du produit sur [1]), qui était basé sur OS/2. Citrix a obtenu la licence du code source d'OS/2 de Microsoft, en passant outre IBM. Citrix espère capter une partie du marché UNIX en rendant facile à déployer des applications texte OS/2. Le produit n'a pas tout à fait fonctionné sur le marché, de sorte que Citrix a dû ajuster son business plan. Citrix a, dès lors, consacré toutes ses ressources en essayant d'identifier les clients potentiels. Enfin Citrix lance **WinView**, son premier produit à succès, introduit en 1993.
1989
