Christodulus[1] est dans la première moitié du XIIe siècle le premier émir[2] de Palerme sous la domination normande.
Biographie
Son origine est incertaine. Christodulus est soit un Grec[3], soit un musulman (berbère ou arabe) peut-être converti au christianisme[4], qui se met au service du troisième comte normand de Sicile, Roger, fils de Roger de Hauteville, le conquérant de la Sicile musulmane (1061-1091). Il devient émir de Palerme en l'an 1107 (Emmiratus ou Ammiratus en latin), durant la régence de Adélaïde de Montferrat, mère du jeune comte Roger, tout juste adolescent.
En 1123, à la demande du comte Roger, il conduit une expédition navale contre l'Afrique (en actuelle Tunisie), et attaque Mahdia. C'est un échec.
Secondé par Georges d'Antioche, un Grec, Christodulus finit par être définitivement supplanté par ce dernier à la fin des années 1120. Il sort de l'histoire à cette période.
