Carling Academy Brixton

La Carling Brixton Academy est une grande scène de Brixton, avec une capacité de 4 921 places. Construite en 1929 et ouverte comme un des quatre cinéma d'Astoria. En 1972 Astoria ferma, et le bâtiment servit alors comme lieu de stockage par la Rank Organisation.

Le bâtiment rouvrit comme salle de concert en 1983 et changea de nom pour devenir la Brixton Academy, nom qui ne changera pas jusqu'en 2004 date à laquelle la salle fut renommée la Carling Academy. Actuellement tenue par l'Academy Music Group, la salle accueille de nombreuses manifestations publiques et des soirées musicales.

En tant qu'un des plus grands lieux de rendez-vous musical de Londres, cette salle attire de grands noms et a déjà vu de grands groupes s'y produisirent. C'est également devenu le lieu de prédilection pour les élections annuelles de l'hebdomadaire musical anglais NME.
