George Douglas Howard Cole (25 septembre 1889[1] - 14 janvier 1959) était un politique, écrivain, économiste théoricien et historien anglais.

Biographie

En tant que socialiste libertaire, il était membre de longue date de la Fabian Society et un défenseur du mouvement coopératif.

Cole fit ses études à l'école St-Paul et au Balliol College, à Oxford. Il fut objecteur de conscience pendant la Première Guerre mondiale.

Entre 1923 et 1946, lui et son épouse Margaret Cole (1893-1980) ont écrit de nombreuses histoires de détectives populaires, mettant en vedette les enquêteurs surintendant Wilson, Everard Blatchington et le Dr Tancrède.
