William Parry Murphy, né le 6 février 1892 à Stoughton dans l'État du Wisconsin et mort le 9 octobre 1987, est un médecin américain qui a partagé le prix Nobel de physiologie ou médecine en 1934 avec George Minot et George Whipple pour l'élaboration d'un traitement à base de foie d'une anémie mortelle.
Il a fait ses études à l'école publique du Wisconsin et de l'Oregon puis a obtenu son diplôme en médecine en 1922 à la Harvard Medical School.
Le point de Murphy est la zone située sous l'hypocondre droit et dont la pression provoque une douleur vive en cas de cholécystite (signe de Murphy).
