Berthun

Berthun, ou, plus correctement Berhthun ou Beorhthun, était le connétable du royaume de Sussex sous le roi Æthelwalh, qui fut tué par le prince du Wessex Cædwalla, quand il envahit et ravagea le Sussex. Berthun et Andhun succédèrent à Æthelwalh et repoussèrent Cædwalla.

En 686, les Saxons du Sud attaquèrent Hlothhere, roi du Kent, pour soutenir son neveu Eadric, mais peu après Berthun fut tué et le Sussex assujetti pour un certain temps par Cædwalla, devenu entre temps roi du Wessex.
