Wingman (ウイングマン, Uinguman?) est un manga de Masakazu Katsura. Partiellement publié en français par Manga Player, six volumes sur treize ont été traduits. Adapté en dessin animé.

Série humoristique et de combat, réminisciente des sentais, elle montre comment un simple collégien réalise son rêve, et en comprend les limites et contraintes.

Bref résumé de l'histoire

Kenta (David), collégien, a pour passe-temps de se déguiser en « Wingman », allié de la justice, et faire la morale aux élèves qui dorment durant les cours. Ce qui lui attire de nombreux ennuis auprès des professeurs, voire des autres élèves.

Un jour, alors qu'il vient justement de décider d'arrêter ce comportement puéril, une jeune fille, Aoi (Élise), tombe littéralement du ciel. Provenant d'une autre dimension, appelée « Powdreams » (« Podorimusu »), elle possède le « livre des rêves » (« dreamnote »), livre qui rend réel tout ce que l'on écrit dedans. Séduite par le personnage fictif de Wingman, elle offre ce cahier à Kenta (David) pour qu'il devienne réellement un héros et l'aide à sauver son pays, sous la coupe du dictateur Rimel (Gédéon).

Au cours de l'histoire, différentes amies de Kenta (David) acquerront des pouvoirs pour l'aider.

Personnages

  • Kenta Hirono (広野 健太, Hirono Kenta?, en français David Duchemin) : personnage principal. Passionné par la justice, il a inventé le personnage de « Wingman », allié de la justice, et a fabriqué lui-même un costume adéquat. La rencontre avec Aoi et surtout le livre des rêves (dreamnote) lui permettent de réellement devenir ce personnage, et de rendre réelles toutes ses armes. Il s'aperçoit cependant rapidement qu'il lui faut également s'entraîner pour savoir utiliser à bon escient les techniques de Wingman, ce que le dreamnote ne peut lui donner.
  • Aoi Yume (アオイ?, en français Élise Lerêve) : provenant de Podorimusu (en français Podrim), elle s'est enfuie pour échapper à Rimel (en français Gédéon). Son père est le roi du pays. Avec son « pouvoir dimensionnel », elle peut changer les mémoires des humains, faire de la psychokinèse, etc. Initialement sceptique devant le comportement de Kenta, elle l'aide cependant à réellement devenir un héros.
  • Miku Ogawa (小川 美紅, Ogawa Miku?, en français Sophie Nougatine) : dans la même classe que Kenta, elle réprouve son comportement qui perturbe les cours, tout en l'aimant. Pour la sauver Kenta se transforme devant elle, et lui avoue son secret. En échange d'avoir protégé le dreamnote, elle demande au père d'Aoi de lui donner des pouvoirs pour aider Wingman.

Publication et dessin animé

Publié entre 1982 et 1985 dans le magazine Shōnen Jump, c'est le premier manga publié par Masakazu Katsura.

Le dessin animé, réalisé par Asahi télévision sous le titre Yume Senshi Uinguman (夢戦士ウイングマン?), a été diffusé à partir de 1984 et s'arrête à la défaite de Rimel.
