Pierrefonds-Roxboro est un arrondissement de la ville de Montréal, formé des anciennes villes de Pierrefonds et de Roxboro.
Géographie
L'arrondissement est situé au nord-ouest de l'île de Montréal. Le territoire a une superficie de 27 km² et a une population de 65 790 personnes (en 2007).
Origine du nom
Le nom Pierrefonds provient d'un château construit par le député Joseph-Adolphe Chauret en 1902. L'architecture de ce château était inspirée par une gravure du château de Pierrefonds en France, près de Compiègne.
L'origine du nom Roxboro est plus incertaine, mais l'explication la plus plausible est qu'elle provienne de "rocks" : rochers, pierres et de "borough" : bourg, agglomération. En 1914, moment où la ville est érigée, des ouvriers travaillent au creusement d'un tunnel pour le chemin de fer, sous le Mont-Royal.

La mairesse de l'arrondissement est Monique Wort. Les conseillers de la ville sont Catherine Clément-Talbot, Christian G. Dubois, Roger Trottier et Bertrand A. Ward.
