Paul Johannes Tillich (20 août 1886 Starzeddel, Allemagne - 22 octobre 1965 Chicago) est un écrivain et théologien protestant.
Biographie
D'origine allemande, il fut chassé de l'Université parce qu'il avait pris la défense d'étudiants juifs molestés par les nazis, et s'exila alors aux États-Unis. Paul Tillich est l'un des plus grands théologiens de notre siècle. Sa Théologie systématique est son œuvre maîtresse. Elle comporte une importante "Introduction" méthodologique et cinq parties intitulées "Raison et révélation", "L'être et Dieu", "L'existence et le Christ", "La Vie et l'Esprit", "L'histoire et le Royaume" (trois volumes dans l'édition américaine, cinq, un par partie, prévus dans la traduction française).
Tillich exercera une forte influence sur de nombreux penseurs de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, parmi lesquels Paul Ricoeur et René Girard.
