Lucy Ella Parsons, née en 1853 et morte à Chicago le 7 mars 1942, est une anarchiste américaine.
Biographie
Lucy Parsons grandit dans un ranch au Texas, probablement comme esclave. Elle dit être la fille d'une mexicaine et d'un indien Creek. Elle se marie avec Albert Parsons, ancien soldat confédéré, devenu républicain radical vers 1871. En 1874, ils s'installent à Chicago et s'engagent dans le mouvement révolutionnaire socialiste. Albert écrit des articles sur les sans-logis et les chômeurs pour le journal The socialist (1878), et participe à la fondation de l'International Working People's Association. Lucy collabore à l'hebdomadaire The Alarm en 1884. Albert Parsons se fera l'avocat des droits des noirs américains victimes du racisme et de la pauvreté. En 1886, il est accusé dans l'affaire de la bombe de Haymarket Square. Il sera pendu avec quatre autres compagnons libertaires le 11 novembre 1887 (Black Friday).
Après cette tragédie, Lucy écrira une biographie sur son compagnon, ainsi que des articles et pamphlets dans les journaux anarchistes : Freedom (1890-1892) The liberator (1905-1906) The Alarm (1915-1916). Elle restera une révoltée jusqu'à la fin de sa vie.
Le 7 mars 1942, elle meurt à Chicago, dans l'incendie de sa maison.
