Le juglon est un composé aromatique de formule moléculaire C10H6O3.
On trouve naturellement du juglon dans les feuilles, racines et écorce des plantes de la famille des Juglandaceae, et particulièrement dans le noyer noir. Il se trouve sous forme libre ou sous forme de 4-β-D-glucopyranoside de l'hydrojuglone (HJG).
Usage médical
Le juglon a par ailleurs fait l'objet de recherches médicales préliminaires quant à son possible emploi comme agent anticancéreux. Des chercheurs ont récemment émis l'hypothèse que la quercétine et l'acide élagique que renferment les noix et les feuilles du noyer auraient également des effets anticancéreux.
