Biographie

Il a créé son propre institut de dessin, la Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art à Dover (New Jersey). Ses fils Andy Kubert et Adam Kubert sont aussi des auteurs.

Les séries les plus célèbres de Joe Kubert sont Sgt. Rock et Hawkman, mais il a entre autres illustré Tarzan et Korak, Tor (un homme de la préhistoire), des histoires d'inspiration religieuse pour les enfants du Mouvement Loubavitch et des romans graphiques tels que Fax de Sarajevo, un album dans lequel Kubert met en image les messages que lui envoie par fax son ami Ervin Rustemagic, et Yossel, une sorte de What If centré sur la Shoah et l'insurrection du ghetto de Varsovie.

Il dessine souvent les couvertures des comics (DC Comics & Marvel Comics).
