Gomère (en hébreu גמר) ou Gomer est un des patriarches cités dans le livre de la Genèse (Gn. 10:2). Il est l'aîné des enfants de Japhet.
La nation issue de Gomère s'identifie du point de vue historique, aux cimmériens de l'antiquité, une race aryenne appelée Kimmeroï dans les transcriptions assyriennes et qui s'est installée au nord de la Mer Noire : La Crimée. Cette nation a selon toute vraissemblance, tiré son nom de ce peuple nomade.
Au VIIIe siècle avant notre ère, pendant le règne de Sargon, roi d'Assyrie, les cimmériens franchirent le Caucase pour attaquer les royaume d'Urartu (Avarat) et de Tabal (Tubal).
