20th Century Fox ou Twentieth Century Fox (anciennement Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation de 1934 à 1985) est l'une des plus importantes sociétés de production de cinéma américaines. Le siège du studio est situé à Century City un quartier de Los Angeles à l'ouest de Beverly Hills en Californie. 20th Century Fox est une filiale du Fox Entertainment Group qui est détenu majoritairement par News Corporation, le groupe australien de Rupert Murdoch.

La 20th Century Fox a été créée en 28 décembre 1934 par fusion de Fox Film et de Twentieth Century Pictures sous la présidence de Sidney Kent. Fox Film avait été créée par William Fox. Twentieth Century Pictures avait été créée en 1933 par Darryl F. Zanuck, un ancien producteur de Warner Brothers, et Joseph Schenck, l'ancien président de United Artists.

Le plus gros succès cinématographique de la Fox reste évidemment Titanic (1997) de James Cameron avec Leonardo DiCaprio et Kate Winslet (plus de 600 millions de dollars de recette sur le territoire américain)

De 1995 à 2005, 20th Century Fox et UGC s'associent en créant le GIE UFD.

Histoire

Fox Film Corporation

La Fox Film Corporation est créée en 1915 par le pionnier William Fox, par la fusion de ses deux sociétés fondées en 1913 : Greater New York Film Rental, une firme de distribution, et Fox (ou Box, suivant d'autres sources) Office Attractions Company, une compagnie de production. Ce regroupement entre distribution et production est un des premiers exemples d'intégration verticale. Un an auparavant, cette dernière avait distribué le dessin animé Gertie the Dinosaur de Winsor McCay.
