Abemama
Abemama (anciennement Roger Simpson) est un atoll des Kiribati, dans l'archipel des îles Gilbert (partie centrale).
Sa superficie est de 16 km² pour une population de 3 608 Gilbertins. C'est le lieu de proclamation, par le capitaine Davis du Royalist du protectorat britannique du 27 mai 1892 sur toutes les îles Gilbert. Ce fut également une résidence de Robert Louis Stevenson et la cure du père Ernest Sabatier.
Vers la fin du XIXe siècle, Abemama fut la capitale d'un royaume dirigé par le roi Tembinok', dont l'autorité s'étendit sur Aranuka, Kuria, et, brièvement, Maiana et Nonouti.[1]
Abemama possède un aéroport (code AITA : AEA).
