Le Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum est l'un des plus importants musées d'Écosse, à Glasgow au Argyle Street près de Kelvingrove Park et de la rivière Kelvin. Il contient une grande variété d'œuvres de la renaissance au surréalisme. Il possède le célèbre "Christ de Saint Jean de la Croix" de 1951 de Salvador Dalí [1].

Historique

Crée par les architectes John William Simpson (1858-1933) & Edmund John Milner Allen (1859-1912) le musée s'ouvre en 1901 après l'exposition international d'art, de science et de l'industrie de 1888. Le bâtiment est du style d'architecture baroque Espagnole.

Il a eu d'important rénovation de 2003 à 2006 et un transfert d'œuvres du "McLellan Galleries". La réouverture du musée s'effectue en présence de la Reine Elizabeth II le 11 juillet 2006.
