Brooke Dolan II (1908 - 1945) était un aventurier américain et naturaliste dans les années 1930 et les 1940. Son père était Brooke Dolan, un riche industriel américain de Philadelphie. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il a été lieutenant.
Aperçu général
Brooke Dolan II a été associé à l’Académie des Sciences Naturelles à Philadelphie. Il a mené deux expéditions en Chine et au Tibet oriental en 1931et entre 1934 et 1935. La première expédition a inclus Ernst Schäfer, un zoologiste allemand, Gordon Bowles, Otto Gneiser, et Hugo Weigold. La seconde a inclus Schäfer et Marion Duncan, une missionnaire américaine.
Il épousé Emilie Gerhard, qui l’a accompagné en partie lors du deuxième voyage.
En octobre 1942, il a voyagé avec Ilia Tolstoy à Lhassa comme membre de l’Office of Strategic Services (OSS), et a rencontré le jeune Dalaï Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, et le gouvernement tibétain. Tolstoy et Dolan sont considérés comme étant allés au-delà de leur autorité en menant le gouvernement tibétain à croire que les États-Unis avait donné une reconnaissance politique internationale au Tibet.
