UTV Motion Pictures est une filiale britannique de la société indienne UTV Software Communications Ltd. (UTV). Elle a été fondée en 1996 pour assurer la distribution de films à la fois des productions d'UTV et celles de ces partenaires tels que 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company et Sony Pictures[1]. La société distribue donc des productions d'Hollywood comme de Bollywood.

Historique
En 1996, UTV Software Communications Ltd. fonde une société pour assurer la distribution de films, UTV Motion Pictures.
Le 12 octobre 2004, UTV Motion Pictures crée une filiale en Mauritanie.
Le 18 mai 2007, une seconde marque de distribution est lancée : Spotboy [2].
UTV Motion Pictures est listée au Alternative Investment Market de la Bourse de Londres depuis le 2 juillet 2007 où elle estimée à 321 millions de USD[3],[4].
Le 20 juillet 2009, UTV annonce la fusion des actions de UTV Motion Pictures, crée comme une filiale indépendante, au sein de UTV Software[5]. Le 28 juillet 2010, UTV Motion Pictures annonce que Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment assurera la distribution en Inde des grosses productions du studio[6].
Le 20 mai 2011, Disney et UTV Motion Pictures annoncent un partenariat dans la production de films en Inde[7].
