Cet album fait paraître Manson plus déterminé qu'auparavant, avec l'album Eat Me, Drink Me. Le principal thème abordé dans The High End Of Low est la rupture de lui et Evan. D'ailleurs, Manson a écrit la chanson I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies pour Evan Rachel Wood.
