The Deep End

The Deep End est un album en deux parties de Gov't Mule.

Le premier volume est sorti le 23 octobre 2001, second le 8 octobre 2002.
La première édition américaine de chacun des deux volumes comporte un disque bonus intitulé Hidden Treasure.
L'édition européenne regroupe les deux volumes et comporte en disque bonus l'intégralité du contenu des deux disques Hidden Treasure.

Historique

Cet album a été réalisé sous forme d'hommage à Allen Woody, bassiste originel et cofondateur du groupe. Vingt-cinq bassistes différents, sélectionnés parmi les préférés d'Allen Woody, participent à l'enregistrement. Le projet se terminera le 3 mai 2003, par un concert de six heures au Saenger Theatre (New Orleans), auquel participeront une grande partie des bassistes impliqués dans le projet. Ce concert sera édité dans son intégralité sous le titre The Deepest End.
Mike Gordon, bassiste de Phish, filme les sessions d'enregistrement, ce qui aboutira au documentaire Rising Low.
