Suibne Menn mac Fiachnai Ard ri Érenn de 615 à 628
Suibne Menn dont le surnom signifie « Bégue » était le fils de Fiachna mac Feradach il était donc issu du Cenél Feradaig, un clan du Cenél nEógain Uí Neill du Nord.
Nous n’avons aucune information sur le pouvoir exercé par son père mais il apparaît que son frère ainé Ernáine mac Fiachnai mort en 636[1] ait été roi d’Ailech.
Il semble que Suibne avait mis à profit la défaite et la mort en 612[2] de son cousin Áed Uaridnach mac Domnaill pour devenir le chef du Cenél nEógain.
Il obtient le titre d’Ard ri Érenn en 615[3], en vengeant ce dernier à la bataille de Sliab Truin où fut tué Máel Coba mac Áedo, le représentant du Cenél Conaill l’autre dynastie des Uí Neill du Nord.
En 628 il défait le nouveau chef du Cenél Conaill Domnall mac Áedo le frère de son prédécesseur mais il est lui-même vaincu et tué la même année à la bataille de Tráig Bréine par Congal Cáech de Dál nAraidi le puissant roi d’Ulaid [4]. Cette défait permit à Domnall mac Áedo d'obtenir le titre d'Ard ri Érenn.
Suibne avait épousé Rónait fille de Dúngalach Uí Thuirtri mais il n’est pas clairement indiqué qu’elle et la mère de ses deux fils connus :
- Crunnmáel (vers 636)
- Cenn Fáelad
Sa famille perdit toute importance à la fin du VIIe siècle après la mort de ses petits fils Flann mac Cenn Fáelad et Ánrothán mac Crunnmáel et celle de son neveu Máel Fuataig mac Ernáine (mort 662[5]).
