Pré-Dreadnought
Cuirassé pré-Dreadnought est le terme utilisé pour désigner les cuirassés de haute mer construit entre les années 1890 et 1905. Les pré-Dreadnought remplacèrent les cuirassés à coque en fer des années 1870-1880. Construit en acier et protégé par une armure en acier renforcé, les cuirassés pré-Dreadnought emportent une batterie d'artillerie principale équipée de canons lourds montés sur une tourelle soutenue par une ou plusieurs batteries d'artillerie légères. Ils étaient propulsés par une machine à vapeur à triple expansion alimentée grâce au charbon.
