Le Metropolitan Police Service (généralement connu sous son ancien nom officiel de Metropolitan Police, ou plus familièrement en tant que The Met) est la force territoriale de police responsable du Grand Londres à l'exception de la Cité de Londres, qui a sa propre force de police : City of London Police.
Son quartier général est situé à New Scotland Yard à Westminster, généralement connu sous le nom de Scotland Yard, terme utilisé par métonymie pour désigner le Metropolitan Police Service.
Le chef du service métropolitain de police (Metropolitan Police Authority) est le commissaire de la police de la métropole (habituellement désignée sous le nom du commissaire). Le poste a été la première fois tenu conjointement par le colonel Sir Charles Rowan et Sir Richard Mayne. Il était détenu depuis octobre 2008 par Sir Paul Stephenson, lequel a donné sa démission le 17 juillet 2011, à la suite de l'affaire des écoutes téléphoniques du tabloïd News of the World.
