Le lord grand chambellan d’Angleterre (Lord Great Chamberlain en anglais) est le sixième des plus grands officiers d’État, derrière le lord du sceau privé (Lord Privy Seal) et devant le lord haut connétable (Lord High Constable).
Cette fonction héréditaire a été détenue pour la première fois par Robert Malet, fils de Guillaume Malet, l’un des compagnons de Guillaume le Conquérant. En 1133, cependant, Henri Ier confisqua les biens et l'office de Guillaume (II) Malet, frère de Robert, et offrit la position à Aubrey II de Vere, dont le fils devint comte d'Oxford. La fonction, à l’exception de quelques interruptions, est depuis restée dans cette famille.
