Hvítavatn (isl. = lac blanc) est un petit lac dans le sud de l'Islande. Il se trouve sur les Hautes Terres d'Islande entre les glaciers Sídujökull et Skeiðarájökull, qui font partie du grand glacier Vatnajökull.
Le lac est situé à une distance d'à peu près 15 km au nord du Skeiðarársander mal famé (voir jökulhlaup).
Le nom signifie les eaux blanches. Il y plusieurs lacs et rivières avec l'adjectif hvítur (blanc) comme partie du nom (voir aussi Hvítárvatn). Cela s'explique par le fait que la plupart des eaux potables en Islande viennent des glaciers.
