Howard Fast (New York en 11 novembre 1914 - 12 mars 2003) commença à écrire en 1932.
Inscrit sur la liste noire du cinéma du maccarthysme, il écrira sous plusieurs pseudonynes. Il est un des membres fondateurs du Mouvement mondial des partisans de la paix. A ce titre, il reçoit le Prix Staline international pour la paix en 1953.
