Alexander Fraser Tytler, lord Woodhouselee (15 octobre 1747 - 5 janvier 1813) avocat et écrivain britannique d'origine écossaise.

Un régime démocratique ne peut pas perdurer. Il subsiste jusqu’au moment où les électeurs découvrent qu’ils peuvent se voter des largesses aux dépens du trésor public. - de la dépendance à de nouveau la servitude

Cette citation proviendrait d'un livre dont le titre aurait été "The Fall of the Athenian Republic", mais ce livre reste inconnu. Aussi il y a un fort soupçon du caractère apocryphe de cette citation.
