Harry Kemelman (24 novembre 1908 - 15 décembre 1996) était un auteur américain de romans policiers et professeur d'anglais.
L'essentiel de sa carrière a été consacré à l'enseignement des Lettres au State College de Boston, jusqu'à ce qu'il publie, en 1965, On soupçonne le rabbin (Friday, the Rabbi Slept Late), roman qui recevra le Prix Edgar Poe du meilleur premier roman. Il reçut aussi 35.000$ pour l'adaptation cinématographique de son premier roman. Le rabbin David Small, héros de ce livre, deviendra celui d'une série de 11 romans policiers.
Harry Kemelman est également l'auteur de nouvelles policières, en nombre non connu.
Il est mort le 15 décembre 1996 d'une insuffisance rénale.
