Giorgio Sommer (1834-1914) est un photographe italien d'origine allemande. Il fit des voyages partout en Italie en faisant des photographies pour des catalogues et des cartes postales.
Il fit des études de commerce à Francfort-sur-le-Main, puis décida de se consacrer à la photographie. Il s'installa en Italie en 1856, d'abord à Rome, où il travailla pour l'atelier d'Edmondo Behles et participa à des expositions. Plus tard, il alla s'installer à Naples.
