L'ergométrine (ou ergonovine) est un alcaloïde, de la famille des lysergamides, issu de l'ergot de seigle ou d'un autre champignon de la famille des clavicipitaceae qui est associé au volubilis (morning glory).
À cause de ses propriétés similaires à l'ocytocine, l'ergométrine peut être utilisée en médecine dans le domaine de l'obstétrique pour prévenir les hémorragies après l'accouchement.
Il a un effet similaire à celui du LSD, mais avec des doses de 2 à 10 mg (contre 400 µg pour le LSD).
