Diane di Prima

Diane DiPrima est une poétesse américaine née le 6 août 1934 à New York. Elle est considérée comme la femme la plus importante de la Beat generation.

Dès son plus jeune âge, Diane DiPrima décide de consacrer sa vie à la poésie. Elle fonde une maison d'édition, The Poet press avec son mari Alan Marlowe qui publie des poètes beat comme Gregory Corso et Herbert Huncke, puis participe à la création d'un magazine poétique avec Amiri Baraka, The Floating Bear qui existera pendant dix ans. Elle quitte New York pour rencontrer Timothy Leary, parcourt les États-Unis à bord de son camion Volkswagen puis s'installe à San Francisco avec ses cinq enfants et étudie le bouddhisme, le sanscrit, le gnosticisme et l'alchimie. Elle s'interesse à la magie^[1].
