Cyberknife
Le Cyberknife est un robot médical inventé par John R. Adler. Il permet d'effectuer divers traitements de radiothérapie, avec une précision plus grande que les traitements classiques (inférieure au millimètre), ce qui permet de moins irradier les tissus sains autour de la cible[1]. Il est utilisé pour le traitement des tumeurs bénignes, des tumeurs malignes et diverses autres indications médicales. Il permet de suivre une cible mobile[1].
Il n'est pas largement répandu, bien que le nombre de centres offrant le traitement à travers le monde ait progressé ces dernières années jusqu'à plus de 150 ; il est surtout utilisé aux États-Unis, au Japon et en Europe. Le CHUM de Montréal au Québec en possède un aussi.
Il est vendu par la société Accuray, sise à Sunnyvale, en Californie.
Le CAL[2] de Nice a traité son premier patient le 26 octobre 2006.
Le COL[3] de Lille a traité son premier patient le 14 juin 2007.
Le Centre hospitalier universitaire de Liège a inauguré le 8 juin 2010 le premier Cyberknife de Belgique[1]. Il a coûté 5,5 millions d'euros[1].
