Robert Hugh Benson (18 novembre 1871 - 19 octobre 1914) est un ecclésiastique et homme de lettres britannique. Il est le plus jeune fils d'Edward White Benson, archevêque de Cantorbéry. Il est le frère cadet d'Arthur Christopher Benson et d'Edward Frederic Benson.

Biographie
Après ses études au collège d'Eton puis à Trinity College (Cambridge), Robert Hugh Benson fut ordonné prêtre dans l'Église anglicane par son propre père.
Lors d'un séjour au Proche-Orient, il commença à s'interroger sur les liens entre l'Église anglicane et le catholicisme. Attiré par la High Church, il finit par être admis dans la communauté de la Résurrection en 1901, sans avoir l'intention de se convertir au catholicisme. Puis, à mesure qu'il étudiait les différentes communautés anglicanes, Benson trouva sa place dans l'Église catholique, où il fut admis le 11 septembre 1903.
Ordonné prêtre l'année suivante, il fut envoyé à Cambridge, où il exerça son ministère sacerdotal tout en poursuivant une carrière littéraire.
