Car2go est le nom d'un concept d'autopartage urbain développé par le constructeur automobile allemand Daimler. Contrairement à la location de voiture traditionnelle, les véhicules Car2go, des Smart Fortwo, peuvent être utilisées pour une courte durée sur la base d'un facturation à la minute et contrairement à l'autopartage classique, les véhicules sont reparties sur la voirie, la location se fait ainsi indépendant de stations fixes et l'usager peut décider librement de l'endroit de retour. Le système a fait l'objet de deux projets pilotes à Ulm en Allemagne et Austin aux Etats-Unis au cours de l'année 2008 avant d'être lancé dans ces deux villes en mars et novembre 2009 respectivement. Depuis avril 2011, Car2go est également disponibile à Hambourg puis, depuis le 18 juin 2011, à Vancouver[1],[2].

Début 2012, 200 Smart Fortwo hybrides seront disponibles à Lyon[3].
