Origine
Hiro Mashima participa au concours "nouveau talent" organisé par le Weekly Shônen Jump en 1998 avec l'histoire : "Magician". Le participant ayant rendu son histoire au magazine, il commença (et termina) donc "Bad Boys Song" en attendant les résultats. Chronologiquement, "Bad Boys Song" est donc créé après "Magician" mais il fut publié dans l'hebdomadaire avant. Le titre vient d'une histoire que Hiro Mashima révère : "Bad Boys" de Hiroshi Tanaka
