L'os zygomatique ou zygoma ou os malaire possède un corps correspondant au relief palpable de la pommette. Ce corps est relié aux autres os de la face par des prolongements, qui sont au nombre de quatre :
- Un prolongement interne vers le rebord inférieur de l'orbite ;
- Un prolongement supérieur vers le rebord externe de l'orbite rejoignant l'os frontal;
- Un prolongement inférieur vers l'os maxillaire et palpable dans la bouche ;
- Un prolongement postérieur le reliant avec le fin prolongement de l'os temporal.
Le zygomatique est aussi le nom d'un muscle s'attachant sur la pommette et qui entre notamment en jeu dans le rire.
