Les osselets de l'oreille interne
Le stapes ou étrier est le troisième de la chaîne des trois osselets suspendus dans l'oreille moyenne grâce à des ligaments. Il permet la transmission et l'amplification des vibrations sonores.
Il est en contact avec l'enclume (ou incus) par l'intermédiaire du processus lenticulaire et la fenêtre ronde de la cochlée sur laquelle s'appuie la platine. L'articulation entre enclume et étrier se dit incudo-stapédienne.
L'étrier de l'oreille humaine mesure 3 mm de large et 4 mm de haut.
