Yngvi est un autre nom pour Freyr (ou Frey), un dieu de la mythologie nordique. Quand Frey et Gerd eurent un fils, ils le nommèrent d'après ce nom. Leur fils était le dieu des meurtriers et du sang, des cadavres, etc... Marié à la sirène Ariana, la fille de Rán, il aimait pourtant Hel qui lui adjoignit de tuer son propre père lors du Ragnarok[Quoi ?].
