Athalaric (né en 516 - mort le 2 octobre 534), roi des Ostrogoths, petit-fils de Théodoric le Grand, devint roi des Ostrogoths en Italie à la mort de son grand-père (526).

Comme Athalaric n'avait que dix ans, la régence fut assurée par sa mère Amalasonte. Sa mère tenta de lui fournir une éducation de tradition romaine, mais les nobles goths firent pression sur elle pour qu'elle les autorise à l'éduquer comme ils le désiraient. Ainsi, il but beaucoup et fit de nombreux excès, qui ruinèrent sa constitution.
