Arthur Symons est écrivain britannique (1865-1945).
Après qu'il a connu une certaine célébrité au sein de la société londonienne, l'écrivain sombre dans la misère et la déchéance. Il finit ses jours dans un asile psychiatrique.
Tout à la fois poète, dramaturge, essayiste, critique et francophile, il traduit les œuvres de Guy de Maupassant, Émile Zola, Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire ou Stéphane Mallarmé.
Arnaud Desplechin adapte sa nouvelle Esther Kahn au cinéma en 2000.
